Downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an abundance of retail experiences, making Denver the shopping capital of the Rocky Mountain West. You won’t be able to make it to every mall, outlet center or independent boutique in a single day – but if you’re in the mood for a weekend-long spending spree, this itinerary will highlight some of the areas you should hit. Have your credit card at the ready – you’re going to need it!
Grab a latté and do a little window-shopping in Larimer Square, on Larimer Street, between 14th and 15th. This historic district epitomizes urban style and sophistication - if you're on the hunt for tomorrow's trends, you'll find them here, either in the shops or on the locals who hang out in the square. What began as Denver's first city block is today one of the city's most chic fashion districts. More than 200 fashion lines from the runways of New York, London, Paris and Milan are on display. From handcrafted jewelry, to chic bags, to shoes that let you step out in style, you'll find clothing and accessories from designers including Ted Baker, J. Lindeberg, True Religion, Morphine Generation, Tracy Reese and Vivienne Tam.
As you reach the end of Larimer Square, you'll encounter a sight sure to quicken the pulse of any dedicated shopper: the 16th Street Mall, the sprawling 16-block, I.M. Pei-designed pedestrian mall that stands as Metro Denver's No. 1 tourist attraction. It's easy to see why: 16th Street is packed with restaurants, cafes, public art - and of course, a cornucopia of shopping options, including Denver Pavilions (500 16th St.). Multi-leveled booksellers, expansive brand name stores, quaint gift shops and more all make their home here. Just start strolling (or hop on the free shuttle that runs the length of the mall) and you're sure to find something to your liking in no time.
Tired yet? We didn't think so — because you haven't made it to Cherry Creek yet. To call the combination of Cherry Creek North and Cherry Creek Shopping Center simply a shopping district doesn't quite do it justice. It's more of a shopping experience.
Just a 10-minute drive from downtown, Cherry Creek North is a 16-block walkable district, featuring the region's largest collection of independently owned shops, boutiques, galleries, restaurants and spas. From the latest fashion trends, to home furnishings, jewelry and just about anything else on your list–you'll find it here.
As if that isn't enough, adjacent to Cherry Creek North is Cherry Creek Shopping Center with no less than 160 of those brand-name stores that you simply cannot live without. When added together, Cherry Creek North and Cherry Creek Shopping Center form one of the most massive, diverse and exhilarating shopping zones in the U.S. You can easily spend a couple hours here, or a while away a whole day browsing one-of-a-kind items and searching for the perfect keepsake to remember your trip to The Mile High City.
In the market for something vintage? Head to the thriving Antique Row, where you can browse your way through the diverse offerings of a whopping 18 blocks of antique shops, art galleries, independently owned boutiques and much more.
For a more laid-back but equally enticing retail excursion, head to Highlands Square in historic northwest Denver. Here you'll find funky gifts, handmade goods, hip clothing, unique jewelry, fine lingerie and more. More than 35 stores line the streets of this buzzing neighborhood on the verge.
Once called "the richest mile of retail west of the Mississippi," shopping here takes you back to a time when customer service ruled the day. From vintage clothing and specialty hobby stores, to stores catering to outdoor and sports enthusiasts, the South Broadway Shopping District is quaint, low-key and exceedingly enjoyable.
Visit the Denver metro area's only indoor outlet mall where you can find pretty much anything you need. It's conveniently located off the I-70 West and 6th Avenue corridor, just 7 miles west of downtown Denver. Parking is free!
An "al fresco" shopping and dining destination, Belmar is just minutes from downtown, offering more than 75 stores and restaurants, including Coldwater Creek, Sur la Table, DSW, Banana Republic, The Oven, and PF Chang's. Take a break from your shopping spree and roll a few frames at Lucky Strike Bowling Lanes.
Conveniently located between downtown Denver and Denver International Airport, The Shops at Northfield is an open-air shopping, dining and entertainment destination anchored by Macy's, Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, Harkins Theatres 18, Improv Comedy Club and more than 60 specialty shops and restaurants.

While on your shopping spree, enjoy the lush landscaping, soaring timber ceilings and relaxing outside beside a bubbling stream in The Vistas.
